The award-winning FAI Aviation Group was established over 35 years ago and continues to go from strength to strength.

The group achieved record sales in 2022, with consolidated group revenues of close to €130m. Revenues for MRO and charter also each increased by more than 30 percent compared to 2021.

Its leading private charter business, FAI rent-a-jet, operates Germany’s largest (18-strong) fleet of Bombardier business jets and utilizes more than 14,000 flight hours annually. FAI rent-a-jet is one of the world’s leaders in the long-haul air ambulance sector. Its ten-strong air ambulance fleet is supported by more than 250 full-time staff and 50 physicians, nurses, and paramedics.

FAI’s expanding MRO business, FAI Technik GmbH, is a 100 percent subsidiary of special mission operator FAI renta- jet GmbH. In 2022, FAI Technik marked its busiest year since its foundation. In February, it opened a maintenance base at the all-new “Willy Brandt” Berlin Brandenburg Airport in the country’s capital.

FAI Technik’s new Berlin base offers line and base maintenance for the complete line of Hawker HS125 series, Beechcraft Premier 1/1A, and King Air series aircraft, as well as line maintenance checks up to 1C for Gulfstream models, including G280, G450, G500, G550, G650, and G650ER.

In addition, an AOG team for Learjet and Bombardier aircraft will be deployed to support FAI’s fleet of Learjet 60, Challenger 604, and Global Express BD700 aircraft, which regularly operate in and out of BER. The Berlin base is supported by 30 qualified staff. FAI Technik is the second MRO serving business aircraft at BER and the only one to support more than one aircraft manufacturer for maintenance services.

FAI Technik’s Nuremberg MRO operates from an ultramodern carbon-neutral FBO with three state-of-the-art hangars. It is licensed for base and line maintenance of the Learjet 60, Challenger 600-series, and Bombardier Global Express 700-series, including modifications, aviation upgrades, interior refurbishment, and component services such as batteries and wheels. FAI´s EASA part 145 license is approved by the Cayman Islands and Bermuda, as well as the U.S. FAA and Nigeria.

FAI Technik Nuremberg is a distributor for Collins Aerospace, Gogo Business Aviation, and GARMIN. The MRO is supported by 70 mechanics and engineers.

  • FAI has retained its position as the official supplier of the McLaren Formula 1 Team, a role it has held since 2020. The group is delighted to be able to promote its services within the Formula 1community

A charter and air ambulance operator operating out of Europe and the Middle East, FAI is appreciated for its reliable and efficient MRO support. Robust customer support on the ground and attentiveness in the air has helped it achieve recognition from industry peers with a notable number of awards.

“FAI has retained its position as the official supplier of the McLaren Formula 1 Team, a role it has held since 2020. The group is delighted to be able to promote its services within the Formula 1 community,” says Siegfried Axtmann, chairman and founder of FAI Aviation Group.

FAI looks forward to taking this partnership forward by supporting the team during the 2023 racing season.

FAI Aviation Group named as ‘Employer of the Future’

FAI Aviation Group, Germany’s leading global provider of mission-critical aviation services, has been named as a 2023 ‘Employer of the Future’ by the German Innovation Institute for Sustainability and Digitalisation (DIND).
FAI was praised for its entrepreneurial, progressive work – in innovation; investing in and maximising the use of technology and sustainable practices.
DIND, whose patron is Brigitte Zypries, former Federal Minister of Economics, is an advocate for small and medium-sized businesses in Germany. Through this award, SME’s who have stood out as being exceptional employers are celebrated.
Siegfried Axtmann, founder and Chairman of FAI Aviation Group, commented. “We are pleased to accept this coveted award which recognises our success in fostering a supportive and engaging workplace for our employees. I would like to dedicate this award to our excellent 300-strong workforce who every day go the extra mile to help make our 36 year old company a success. As we currently face a shortage of skilled workers in Germany, I hope this will help us to attract future talented individuals.“
Following the opening of its new MRO facility at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) in February, FAI widened its workforce earlier this year, adding 10 team members including engineers and mechanics.
